Election 2022 Recap

Support FHPS was born as a parent-led school district “defense” organization in October 2021 when a politically driven and nationally motivated school board attack strategy entered our community. Horrified by an unwarranted recall attempt against our school board, we sprung into action to fight fallacies with facts about our award winning schools and educators. For over a year, we shared truths about public education, Forest Hills Public Schools, and the education-related factors involved in the 2022 midterm election.

From selling yard signs and car stickers, to canvassing our local communities, we left no stone unturned to protect the integrity of the elected Board of education and FHPS. Manufactured crises have no place in our district!

To help drive voter turnout in the often overlooked school board section of the ballot, we sought to inform the community about the whopping 13 candidates vying for four seats and how to make an informed vote through:

• An explanation of the election 

• Extensive candidate survey 

• Hosting a candidate forum 

• Suggesting pro-public education candidates 

With a pool of pro-public education and pro-FHPS candidates established, we stepped up as volunteers, pivoting to a proactive “offense” strategy during the election, helping turn out the vote with:

• 250 yard signs

• 17,000 mailers

• 4000 door hangers

• 500 postcards

• 300 “mom” letters

• 9,300 texts

• 1 digital billboard on I-96

• Targeted (very successful) Facebook ad campaign

• Candidate Forum 

• Candidate Survey
